I partner with students, school staff, parents, and community service agencies to bridge gaps and build a strong network of support for our youth. McKinney Vento Homeless Liaison
To support families navigating transitions or housing hardships, the Suring School District provides dedicated resources under the federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. The district ensures that children and youth lacking a fixed, regular, or adequate nighttime residence face no interruptions to their education. Eligible students receive immediate access to classes, school meals, and academic supplies, alongside transportation support to remain in their current school. By removing these immediate hurdles, the district aims to preserve consistency, safety, and academic success for every child.
Out-Of-Home Care
The Suring School District is dedicated to ensuring educational stability for students in foster, kinship, or other out-of-home care placements. The district collaborates closely with child welfare agencies, caseworkers, and families to minimize educational disruptions. We provide these students with essential services, including immediate enrollment, seamless records transfers, coordinated transportation to maintain school stability, and direct access to academic and emotional resources within the school setting.
Community Closet
Our Community Closet is open to all residents within the district, providing free access to essential items for families in need. Visitors can browse a variety of resources, including school supplies, new and gently used clothing, winter outerwear, and non-perishable food. Whether you are preparing for the new school year or looking for extra support during the colder months, our goal is to ensure every community member has the everyday items they need to thrive.
Nurse's Nook Program
Through our partnership with Nurse’s Nook, a dedicated non-profit organization, we provide crucial support to our school community throughout the year. We coordinate two primary initiatives: a weekend meal program that sends nutritious food home with students (along with breakfast and snack items) to ensure they are nourished over the weekend, and an annual "Adopt a Family" program that brings holiday joy and essentials to our families during Christmas.
