The School District of Suring sponsors extra curricular programs to provide its Middle and High School students with additional opportunities for personal growth, self-discipline, skill development, cooperation with others, creativity, and just plain fun. Although it is understood that the main purpose for attending school is to obtain an education, extra curricular programs are also supported as a valuable part of the total educational experience. School-sponsored activities include any school related organized activity that is offered outside of the academic course requirements.
Participation in any of these activities is a privilege, which carries additional responsibilities. The standards outlined in the Handbook will help ensure that the involved students serve as a credit to themselves, their family, their school, and the community. A student is required to follow the Student Activity Handbook guidelines on a year-round (12 month basis – 24/7/365).
It is the philosophy of the Suring School District that students should be encouraged and supported in their efforts to develop and maintain a chemical-free lifestyle. Furthermore, achieving passing grades in the classroom is a pre-requisite for participation in co-curricular activities.
The Suring School District believes that the close contact of coaches, advisors, directors, parents, and students in activities provide a unique opportunity to observe, confront, and assist one another.
